Participating in the Northwest Design Award
contest was transformational. It allowed me
to test and apply the knowledge I was
gaining from the Residential Interior Design
course in a very competitive pool of college
students from every corner of the Northwest
region. I entered it for fun and was
delighted to receive Second Place in the
Students' category. My acceptance speech at
the Seattle Design Center was short, but was
not without thanks to my teacher
Lima-Younts for a great learning experience.

"The Residential Interior Designer course was
a wonderful experience for me, a person with
already three years of college in an
unrelated area of study, wanting to enter
the interior design field. The instructor,
Natasha Lima-Younts, was extremely helpful;
she was eager to share her professional
knowledge and experience. I greatly
appreciate the level of enthusiastic support
and the personal and prompt attention
offered cheerfully to a student in every
turn. I particularly enjoyed the way the
course was written -- in a spirit of
friendliness and optimism -- and still so
informative, yet easy to read. The included
textbook serves as a valuable addition to
the course, with a vast source of
comprehensive information. I would recommend

The DSA certification course far exceeded my
expectations. The textbook provided a strong
comprehensive background to the field and
paired nicely with the coursework and
assignments that focused largely on
practical application. I was both inspired
and challenged by the readings and
assignments--they helped me understand both
the subjective and objective rationale
behind various design articles I have been
reading for years.
I also found I was able
to quickly apply what I learned directly to
design challenges I had been stumped by for
some time. By the end of the course I felt I
had a sufficient toolkit and the confidence
to apply what I learned to various clients'
needs. Having already been to graduate
school in an unrelated field and as the
mother of two small children I was very
appreciative to have found DSA as a viable
option to begin the practice of interior

"Thanks to the Designer Society of America,
my dream became a reality. The R.I.D.E.
certification course is so insightful. I
gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in a
very short amount of time.
